A. Creating Letterhead Lines with the Shape – Line fitur feature

You can make letterhead by entering the Line icon (lines) found in the Shape feature. The following are the steps for inserting a line on letterhead.

1. Open tab Insert then click menu Shapes as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

2. Then, select the icon ‘Line’ (lines) in the Lines section as indicated by the arrows in the image below.

3. Draw a line under the letterhead as shown below. To keep the lines straight as they are drawn, you can press the button SHIFT while drawing a line along the letterhead.

4. You can modify this line by using Format Shapes. On tab Format, click the arrow icon in the section Shape Styles as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

5. After that, a window will appear Format Shapes. Here, you can modify the line. One of them is the Line Style menu where you can change its thickness, type, shape, and others. When finished, click the Close button.

6. To continue writing the letter, you can close the Header view by opening the Design tab and then clicking the button Close Header and Footer.

B. Creating Letterhead Lines with the Border feature

On Ms. Word, borders feature is used to give a frame to text or paragraphs to make it look more beautiful and neat. Well, you can use this feature to create a line under the letterhead. The following are the steps to create a letterhead line with a border.

1. Make sure, you have placed the cursor at the end of the letterhead as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

2. Open tab Home then click the arrowhead button in the menu Border as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

3. Click Bottom Border as indicated by the arrows in the figure, The goal is to give the letterhead a solid bottom frame.

4. The result will look like in the image below.

5. You can modify the border by using the features Borders and Shading. Click Borders and Shading on Border as indicated by the arrow in the image below.

6. On the window Borders and Shading, you can change the style (number 1), color (number 2), and thickness (number 3) of the border as desired. Then, the general view of the adjusted border can be seen in Preview (number 4). Click OK as indicated by the arrow in the image to save the changes.

7. Now, try to recreate the bottom frame by clicking on the Border Bottom option like the third step.

8. When you create a new bottom frame, the results will match the modifications you made earlier. An example can be seen in the image below.
