Bose Smart Soundbar 900: the American unveils its first Dolby Atmos soundbar

Bose Smart Soundbar 900

Despite all his know-how in terms of sound barBose had so far remained in the horizontal dimension of sound.

This will change with its future Smart Soundbar 900, an ambitious connected and Atmos-compatible model.

Scale, but discretion

Like the Sony HT-A5000 announced around the same time, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 soundbar is a product of relative discretion. Its design is quite versatile and modern. Above all, Bose declines it in black version and in white version, more cheerful. The soundbar measures 104 x 10.4 x 5.8 (wxdxh), weighing around 5.8 kg.

The basis of this model is its compatibility with TVs (up to Atmos formats), but also its connected approach. The Bose is like this
compatible, via its WiFi module and RJ45 socket, with the brand’s multiroom ecosystem, as well as Apple’s Airplay 2 protocol, and Spotify Connect. Additionally, the Smart Soundbar 900 incorporates SimpleSync technology, which allows it to easily sync with compatible Bluetooth headphones and speakers.

Bose also highlights compatibility with Alexa and Google assistants. Via Alexa, it is even possible to have direct access to the TV, by controlling the ignition or the passage of channels. This technology,
baptized Voice4Videois quite intriguing but not very detailed at the moment.

The only real criticism that we could make, for the moment, concerns the somewhat poor connectivity of the Smart SoundBar 900. Indeed, a simple HDMI e-ARC socket and a simple optical socket are available. We can also add the non-support of DTS formats, which will be a big obstacle for many users.

Finally Atmos

Very close to the structure of the previous Smart Soundbar 700, the new Bose soundbar adds two speakers (one to each
end) pointing upwards, this to reproduce the vertical channels.

The brand does not openly specify it, but seven speakers are integrated into this sound bar. Thanks to its PhaseGuide diffusion technology, Bose promises a very wide surround response. To adapt to the geometry of the part, the ADAPTiQ technology makes it possible to
automatically calibrate the model. Finally, the TrueSpace makes it possible to broadcast a 3D rendering, from simple stereo streams, 5.1 and 7.1.

Bose Smart Soundbar 900

Like previous models, the Smart Soundbar 900 can be used alone, or with other elements. It will thus be possible to combine it with a subwoofer such as the Bass Module 500 or the Bass Module 700, or even surround speakers, such as the Surround Speakers 700.

Although no release date has been announced, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 should be available before the end of the month. His price,
meanwhile, is announced at 950 euros on the German Bose site, but there is no guarantee that this is the case in France.
