For them to use Bing, Microsoft buys Internet users, and it seems to work

Bing

The manufacturer gives many points that can be used in several American brands in order to encourage the adoption of its Navigator.

Although Bing has been around for more than a decade, it cannot really be said that the search engine is particularly popular among users.

Shunned by some, misunderstood by many others, Bing lives its life in the shadow of Google Search, which still captures nearly 9 out of 10 searches worldwide. In the United States, Microsoft’s service represents only 6% market share. In France, its presence is even weaker, accumulating barely 5% of web searches carried out.

However, Microsoft is not discouraged and pulls out all the stops to convince users to change creameries and test its services online.

This is the US site The Verge who experienced it by analyzing for several days the various techniques put in place by the Redmond publisher to bring a few users to his site, and the latter is ready to take out the checkbook to achieve his ends.

Microsoft is showering its users with gift cards to convince them to change their habits

Microsoft has set up through its various products Microsoft Rewards, a program allowing those using the company’s online services to collect points to be transformed into gift cards at partner brands, such as Decathlon or Zalando in France. Xbox players can also collect points by making online purchases on their console, for example.

Microsoft has applied the same reward system to Bing and distributes points for each query made on the search engine, as long as you are logged into your Microsoft account. Many Microsoft users, especially those playing on Xbox, who responded to The Verge also indicate that they only use Bing to collect these gift certificates.

Some people have nevertheless shown themselves convinced by Bing over time, whether for its complete integration with Windows, the quality of its search results or its daily changing wallpapers.

Nevertheless, Bing seems for the moment doomed to be only a secondary player against his rival. Google would also be the second most searched term by users on Bing, apparently eager to quickly return to their favorite engine.
