Google lowers the price of its Pixel 5 before launching its Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
Google is preparing to formalize the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, its new smartphones high-end which will integrate a home chip and which will at the same time abandon the compact format with a screen of at least 6.4 inches. But before that, the Mountain View firm wants to give its Pixel 5 a last little boost by offering it on sale at several e-merchants: at 589 euros instead of 629 euros. Stocks are exhausted at Fnac and at Darty, but there is still some left on Boulanger.

- What are the advantages over the next Pixel 6?
With its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google promises a real move upmarket compared to the Pixel 5, but for this, the American manufacturer will align with the competition and therefore increase prices. We should then end up around 800-900 euros, a price far removed from the 589 euros requested today.
By choosing the Pixel 5, you’ll not only save money, but you’ll also benefit from an incredibly compact smartphone. Its refreshed 90 Hz OLED screen is only 6 inches and offers unparalleled comfort in the hand, where your thumb will reach every nook effortlessly. And if we tell you all that, it’s because the next Pixels will surely abandon this small format …
- Is he still good at photography?
The Pixel 5 is quite simply one of the best in photos as of this writing, especially at this price point. Its dual 12 + 16 megapixel sensor is very powerful and you will never miss a shot with it, day or night, even if it is not the most versatile in its class. Above all, it excels at clearly capturing a moving target, which is ideal for taking pictures of your children or pets, for example. There are also some interesting features, such as the mode (night vision) for night portraits or the mode to produce a dramatic effect in slow motion.
The performance is there, with the powerful 5G-capable Snapdragon 765G and the 4,080mAh battery easily lasts all day, allowing the smartphone to be charged overnight – with your choice of cable or cradle.
Being a smartphone from Google, the Pixel 5 has the distinction of being the first served in terms of software updates in the Android sphere. Other advantages are to be listed, such as the simplicity of the interface, because it is unadorned, and the invitation to preview the next interfaces, as currently with Android 12.
