The announcement and launch of the Pixel 5 smartphone, manufactured by Google, could be delayed. The information is from the expert on leaks Jon Prosser, the same who this week revealed details about the arrival of another device from the company: the Pixel 4a, less powerful version of the current generation of cell phones from the company.
According to Prosser, Pixel 5 will not come out on schedule due to “market conditions”, not due to stock problems or suspicions on the part of Google. Probably, the reason is in the market changes caused by the new coronavirus pandemic, which caused events such as Google I/O 2020 to be canceled and considerably reduced the sale of mobile devices worldwide.
Typically, Google unveils the new Pixel lineup model in October, synchronizing the launch with a new version of Android.
However, the situation of the company’s devices would not be the best either. According to previous speculation, the Pixel 5 could go without the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. Also, the current generation of cellphones has apparently not performed well in sales. In a recent interview with The Verge, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai explained some of the difficulties in the sector and stated that “hardware is difficult”.
