How much are you willing to pay for a phone today? [Undersökning]
The prices for the flagships have skyrocketed in recent years. When we asked in the summer of 2013 where the personal price ceiling was when buying a new smartphone, the highest response option was “SEK 6,000 and up”, as mobile phones rarely cost more than that at the time.
Today, some flagships with the highest memory configuration have price tags of over 20,000 kroner. Similar informal surveys were conducted in 2017 and 2019. The answer options that received the most votes all three times were around SEK 5,000–6,000.
Even OnePlus, which in the beginning was a price pusher with small profit margins, today charges around SEK 10,000 for the Pro models. At the same time, there are plenty of alternatives in the lower price ranges, not least from Xiaomi and Motorola.
