If you buy this Xbox One game, you will receive a free version of the Xbox Series X

Microsoft has announced today that it will be the first game to be a part of Smart Delivery Program focused on the titles that will be available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Smart Delivery allows Buy the Xbox One version of the game and get the free Xbox Series X version. This is useful for those who currently own the Xbox One but are considering replacing it later with the Xbox Series X, as they do not have to pay twice for the same game.

This also means that you can buy Xbox Series X games with Smart Delivery and get the Xbox One version.

Not all video game studios will participate in the Smart Delivery program, but it seems a large number will. Microsoft has 13 new headlines for the Xbox Series X, nine of which will be compatible with Smart Delivery.

These nine include Pro CD’s Red CD promise to offer Smart Delivery for Cyberpunk 2077, and Microsoft’s commitment that all Xbox Games Studios titles released for both consoles will include free updates.

Studios like Ubisoft, Sega and Bandai Namco Entertainment will offer Smart Delivery, but there’s one big exception: EA. Although EA has launched today Madden NFL 21 For the Xbox Series X, the company is not committed to offering Smart Delivery. Vice versa, EA offers its own free upgrade offer if players buy Madden NFL 21 on Xbox One before December 31 and upgrade to Xbox Series X before March 31, 2021.

Microsoft has yet to determine which Xbox Game Studios titles will include Smart Delivery, but here are the top 10 games with Smart Delivery support from external developers:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft)
  • Sea call (Raw anger)
  • Chorus (Inner silver)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (Red Projection CD)
  • Poop 5 (Code Supervisor)
  • Nexus Scarlet (Namai Bandai Entertainment)
  • Second Extermination (Systemic reaction)
  • Climbing (Neon Giant / Digital Curve)
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Blood Line 2 (Interactive Paradox)
  • Yakuza: Like a dragon (Sega)
