Rockstar confirms that GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 will be compatible with Xbox Series X and PS5

Rockstar confirms that its most popular games will be compatible with consoles Xbox Series X | S and PS5notably GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. The company still plans to re-release a next-gen version of GTA Online in 2021.

The company had indicated that its most popular games would indeed be playable on next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and confirmed this Friday through a post on its Rockstargames site.

GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 next gen compatible

Rockstar therefore confirms that GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 will be playable on next-gen consoles through backwards compatibility. And players will be able to pick up where they left off, via save file transfer.

As a bonus, PS Plus members will continue to earn GTA$1,000,000 the months they play the PS4 version of GTA Onlineuntil the new version of the game launches on PS5 in 2021.

The studio announces that these two titles will not be the only ones to benefit from backward compatibility. Indeed, all games available on Xbox One, including those released on Xbox and Xbox 360, will be playable on Xbox Series X and S. The same goes for PS2 games available on PS4 from the PlayStation Store.
