The rumor that began to run at the end of 2018, while Konami simmered the edition eFootball PES 2020, it came true: River Plate and the Monumental will not be officially in FIFA 20. Actually yes, but as Núñez FC.
Having closed an exclusive link with Boca Juniors for three years, PES 2020 applied another blow to its historic rival FIFA in the world of soccer videogames, who made the acquisition of licenses one of its main attractions.
River Plate, from now on Núñez FC, will play in a generic stadium, with a shield and basic clothing. And that’s not all: the new superclassic will be against Buenos Aires FC.
Despite not having the club officially, River players will appear in FIFA 2020 and they will even be part of the Ultimate Team mode, in which each player can assemble his team full of figures.
You have to remember that the Millionaire has PES as sponsor and that even the name of the videogame looks on the numbers of the team’s shirts.
The case of River is similar to that of Juventus, which will also appear in FIFA 20 under another name because it is exclusive to Konami. The Turin club was named Piemonte Calcior.
Those who have not undergone modifications were Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona. Although their licenses were acquired by Konami to show off at PES 2020, these teams will continue to appear as such in FIFA because of the agreements that their leagues have with the EA Sports company.
