The mid-range market in Android is commanded by Xiaomi, but that does not mean that there are other companies that do not have very interesting devices. The thing changes when we go down a small step, to what we call low range or input. Here Xiaomi is the clear winner and few manufacturers can face it when we talk about quality / price ratio. Today the company reaffirms itself in this segment with a new release. We talk about Xiaomi Redmi 8A, a device that comes as one of the company’s cheapest bets for users who need the basic functions of Android.
It will not be a mobile with which to play at all hours, edit multimedia content or have dozens of applications open in the background. It is a device for people who start on Android or not only need check email, call and use WhatsApp. All this with a basic design and a modest camera.
Design and features of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A
He new Redmi 8A It has been presented in India, the quintessential country of the low-end Xiaomi. It is a mobile that will sell very well in emerging countries, where technology is slowly reaching different social classes. Of course, it is a very interesting product for countries around the world. The Redmi 7A presented earlier this year is currently sold in Spain and in much of Europe.
The design of this Redmi 8A is basic, predominantly plastic for its rear. There are no double cameras, not even a fingerprint sensor. Of course, it greatly improves the optimization of the space in the front. Now we do not have conventional bezels, but a notch with a front quite well used.
- 6.2-inch IPS screen in HD + resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor
- 2 or 3 GB of RAM
- 32 GB of internal storage
- 12 megapixel rear camera with f / 1.9 aperture
- 8 megapixel front camera
- Plastic body
- Without fingerprint sensor
- USB C and 3.5 mm jack
- 5,000 mAh battery with fast charge (18W)
- Android 9 Foot under MIUI 10
The list of specifications is not comparable to that of other devices on the market, but we must take into account that it is a mobile that is around 100 euros / dollars of PVPr. Still, we see some details that we like, such as the choice of the rear photographic sensor, the USB C or the support for 18W fast charge. In the box you will arrive with a 10W charger, but you can use a more powerful one to get faster loads.
Price and availability of the Xiaomi Redmi 8A
This new device has been presented in India with official prices for that market. At the moment it cannot be purchased in Spain and we cannot confirm 100% that it will be available. Most likely, yes, but we must wait for Xiaomi Spain to pronounce on the matter. The prices at the exchange are as follows:
- Xiaomi Redmi 8A 2/32 – 91 euros
- Xiaomi Redmi 8A 3/32 – 98 euros
In the event that this smartphone reaches our market, I could do it with prices of 99 and 109 euros for the respective versions. Still, as we have said, we must wait.
