VoLTE and WiFi calls come to Movistar: this is how they work and these are compatible mobiles

Going beyond the mobile network itself to call has been another of the great achievements of technology. In 2015 we were able to try Vodafone VoLTE, and a year later, Orange’s WiFi calls. Two technologies that allow us to improve in two scenarios main ones, that of not having coverage in the case of WiFi calls, and that of offering high definition calls thanks to the codecs that use 4G calls.
After the bet of Orange and Vodafone, Movistar points to the WiFi Calling and to Voice 4G, ensuring for the latter a coverage of 98% for the Spanish population, as well as speeds higher than 300 Mbps.
Movistar points to WiFi and 4G calls
Movistar already has VoLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution) technology, which means being able to call through 4G. In the same way, enter WiFi calls, in order to extend coverage in those most problematic areas.
As we anticipate, VoLTE calls use the AAC-ELD codec, which encodes the vocal signal so that we can enjoy high definition calls. In the same way, call setup time is less Regarding calls on 3G or 2G coverage, as long as both sender and receiver are using this technology. At the time of billing, they cost the same as a normal call.
Both functions will be automatically activated to customers with a compatible phone and, in the future, They will also reach customers with prepaid rates. The list of phones compatible with 4G Voice and WiFi calls, for the moment, are as follows.
