YouTube will stop showing how many people have pressed the thumbs down button and disliked videos. The button is still there, but YouTube no longer lists the number.
Those who have channels on YouTube can still see how many people have disliked the clips, by using YouTube Studio. The change is part of an effort to promote respectful interactions between viewers and uploaders.
Google tested to stop showing a number next to the thumbs down button for some users earlier this year. According to Google, it becomes less tempting for trolls to downvote videos out of pure malice, when it is not possible to see how many people disliked the clip or the ratio between “thumbs up” and “thumbs down”.
The counter is being removed gradually so it may take some time before it disappears for everyone.
